MANDRAKE 10.1 INSTALLATION

Am using Pinnacle Micro Notebook (Intel Celeron CPU), with 2.00GHz, 1 GB RAM, 80 GB hardrive, equally partitioned and running Microsoft Windows XP Professional 2002, with service pack 2. Notebook has CD Rom RW & stiffy drive. Use AVG Professional for anti-virus, plus XP's firewall, which I disabled as I did all other possible programs, which may interfere.

Would like to dual boot to Mandrake 10.1. Have DVD version, external Sony DVD RW Hardcase linked via USB. Unable to use GUI and am unfamiliar with Linux commands.

Created and wrote all possible images to boot floppys in Windows and Linux Dosutils (rawwritewin.exe) as follows:

Pcmcia.img.2.4.27-0.pre2.1mdkboot
Cdrom.img.2.4.27-0-pre21mdkboot
Cdrom.changedisk.img.2.4 etc…
Network.img…
Network_drivers.img…

Rebooted with CDROM.img floppy and DVD. Then used network drivers image.

However, thereafter I am stuck as don’t know what parameters to pass, neither what codes indicate an external DVD RW USB harddrive, etc…
