Mandrake reboots to blank screen

My Mandrake 9.1 boots up into the bootloader fine. I can select either to boot into WinXP or Linux. But if I were to reboot the machine while I'm in Linux (selecting Logout, then reboot), my PC just boots into a blank screen and hangs there. CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work. I'll have to manually reset the PC.

Does anyone know what's happening?

Are you using a laptop? I have that problem with SuSE on my laptop.
