Error scenario: Booting the installer, a machine with a lot of memory (1GB or more) hangs with flashing caps/scroll lock LEDs (Bugzilla #3198). Why: It seems as though there is framebuffer trouble with certain video cards on machines with a high amount of memory. Solution: At the installer splash screen when you first boot off the CD or floppy disks, press F1 and type "linux vga=0". Hope that sorts you out. |
The problem now is not with the installation (with the fix\update i found in http://www.netikka.net/tmb/9.1/ this page) but when i'm going to start linux!

I have an Epox 8RDA+ motherboard, MSI TI4200 video, 1Gb RAM, AMD XP2500+, dual-boot (Linux Mandrake 9.1/W2k), DVD-ROM, Yamaha CD-RW and 6-way flash card reader. I ended up installing Mandrake 9.1 with only 512M RAM initially. After I had done all the updates, I installed the second 512M stick and everything seems to work smoothly. I had a hell of a time doing the install with the 1G installed.
I had tried all the other install messages, but none work for me. Hope this helps. Dave |
