Mandrake Panel system changes

I installed mandrake 9.2 and then installed some of the software from the configure computer place. FOr some reason then the entire panel seemed to reduce it self to a couple of programs.

Should this happn?

I am a complete linux newbie.

panel....or do you mean menus (start menu)? if so then i had the same up a konsole and type this command:

update-menus -v
