mandrake on mac

I've heard that a mac processor, like g3 and powerpc is more effective that Intel when we talk about hz. Is this related to the the linux environment to?

E.G. I install linux Mandrake on a Mac g3 133hz, and it will run like a linux Mandrake on a Intel 233mhz? or do I have to use the mac OS to enjoy the full performance?

Well, there is a ppc version of Mandrake, as well as some distros that are ppc only (Yellow Dog) so I would think that you would get the full benefits of the Power PC processor under Linux. I have never tried it, though; so I don't know for sure.

I found the answer on Yellow Dog distribution site. Both Linux OS and Mac OS benefits from the architecture of the PPC processors which makes it difficult to compare HZ with Intels x86 processors. Though with the newest G4 and G5 there are some occasions Linux doesn't benefit the same way as Mac OS systems.
