mandrake on laptop

My girlfriend just got a new laptop

gateway
athalon 64
200 gb harddrive
ati something video card

should I use version 10 because it is safer
or version 10.1 because it would be safer to install because, more than likely
newer features are likely to be included that will install without trouble on a laptop.

I will hold my breath in either case.

use 10.1 designed for x86 64bit processors. I haven't had one hiccup with 10.1 for 32bit. It will smoke man running that. I am soooooo jealous of a lap top like that.

the windows xp home runs really slow in this computer

it took two hours to install mcaffe virus software, and
(no suprise) i had to reboot half a dozen times.

i hope mandrake is fast, I am not sure because i dont know
if the harddrive in this laptop is as fast as a desktop.

Part of your issue with that could be whether or not you have xp 64bit eddition as well on the note of winblows.
