Mandrake on IMB Thinkpad R40

Does anyone have experience installing Mandrake on the R40 IBM Thinkpad? I am downloading the 10.1 Community Edition now to install on my new laptop. My older R42 was a breeze with any distribution (except the wireless card ordeal which I shall not mention again). I am particularly concerned with disk partition and getting wireless up and going. Also, the crazy behavior I had in Mandrake 10 which made my curser go nuts and dance around the screen with windows opening up faster than I could close them.

I've seen it running very smoothly on one of those Thinkpads (a quite recent one, don't remember the exact typeno. ). The only problem is (again ;-) ) WLAN, although I'm afraid I can not tell you very much about that (I love utp cat6)
