Mandrake Linux 10 installation problem

i have just fot the Mandrake linux 10 installation disk...
i plan to install on a old pc, pentium II 350, 128mb ram, 5gb harddisk, i think just able to meet to installation requirement.
so i start my installation from booting using the 1cd, unfortunately, when it start

mounting /dev/hdc on /tmp/image as type iso9660

then it complain "that cdrom disc does not seem to be mandrake linux installation cdrom"

so i tot is the installation cd gpt problem, so i change a new copy but is still the same, i try some others way like copy the 3 cd data to a usb harddisk then use the hdcdrom_usb.img from the version 9.2 to install, but unfortunately the image is looking for the older kernel to install and i not able to get the hdcdrom_usb.img for version 10.

i also try searching the web for some solution, but not one have the problem i got, i maybe because i too newb n miss some pre-installation steps..

someone pls help me..
thx...

If you are having trouble using the installation CD's and you have a fast Internet connection, you can use the boot.iso image burned to CD to do an ftp installation.

You can follow my dierctions posted here

I have managed to overcome the same problem with Mandriva 2006. The answer is on linuxforums dot org, but I'm not allowed to post a link to it - will do so when I have made 5 posts!!

The article title on that site is "Mandriva 2006 Install from USB CD Drive"

two and 1/2 questions
1
a/ Did you burn the iso yourself, you may have copied rather than written the iso to disk
b/ and what programme - if you did burn them yourself - did you use to do the job

2
What brand and speed is your CD rom
Mandrake 10.0 did have issues with a certain brand of drives and also if the drive is old enough it may not read newer 700Mb disks but only the older 650 MB disks

I use Mandrake 10.0, but I notice you only have 128 MB of RAM you realise that KDE and Gnome will struggle a bit, I would suggest hunting around for a vid card. I had a machine with those specs but using a 64 Mb vid card which really helped.

cheers
floppy

Try putting in cd2 and if it boots it will tell you to insert cd1, do it.

I think it might have been 10 when many people had problems with cd1.

Worth a try.
