Mandrake ejects CD when trying to install packages
I am currently trying to install acpi packages and Mandrake prompts me like this:
Please insert the medium named "Installation CD 1" on device [/dev/hdc] I place the same CD I used to install Mandrake in the drive and Mandrake ejects the CD asking for it again. I have solved this with URPMI before, but is there anyway to get Mandrake to recognize the CD's? I have burned another CD and tried that and got the same results. Should I just stick with URPMI and forget it or should this work? |
This might be happening because or the mount options used for your CD; at least, I remember such a problem from my Mandrade days.
Have you tried copying the install files (RPM, I guess) to your hard drive and use them from there? |
No, I haven't tried that. I'll give that a shot.

You were right about those mount options.
I went into /etc/fstab and added this line: /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom auto umask=0,user,noauto,rw,exec,users 0 0 Mandrake was not auto mounting the cdrom like I thought it was. Now that I added this, it works fine and I can install packages from CD's now. Thanks! |
