Mandrake doesnt load after the installation is done

ok basically ive installed mandrake about 4times now. right the installation process goes smoothly everytime i reformatt the hdd and erase it completely. then after the installation is complete. the screen where the bar goes higher. well mine stops at around less than the halfway mark. ive done this option also. put in cd1 and f1 and typed in rescue and reinstalled the bootloader and also mounted the partitions on mdc. i really dont know what to do at this point.

im having the same prob with mandrake 10 just staring 10.1 downloading now see if thats any better

thats it, i am installing 10.1 on a thinkpad

am newbie so i have no idea whas the solution

yeah i downloaded and installed the 10.1 community and it done that. i guess im gonna have to download another or something not sure wot to do

ok well ive done this. i have clicked on ESC to go to the verbose now in the verbose it shows what is actually going on. Now then it says Checking Hardware and nothing happens after that part

First remember that the /boot directory should be on a PRIMARY partition of your first hard drive.

Next be sure to specify the "nolapic" parameter to the kernel at start.

Some motherboards will freeze without this.

The Mandrake 'mkrescue --iso' command will produce a cdrom image file of a 4 mb rescue disk. An option when booting up with the disk will analyze your computer and make suggestions what the kernel options should be. You could use that to alter your grub or lilo config files.

Now I wish there was a mkbootdisk --iso command, although the rescue.iso has an option simply to boot the computer.
