Mandrake does not update

I have Mandrake 10.1 official, and I can't update it no matter whatever I do.

I even registered to teh site, but they say that I have to pay for updating!

I think I must have made some mistake.

Can anybody guide me for a proper method to Update?

Go to www.google.com/linux and search for EasyUrpmi. This will enable you to install update sources and update your distro.

I am Moreover, Unable to use URMPI.

I don't get the concept of using that.

What exactly is the uRMPi......and are those files downloaded only through the console?

Hi,
As indicated before, go to this site http://easyurpmi.zar.org

and just follow the steps. Use main (security updates), updates, contrib and plf free and non-free (commercial stuff).

Copy what you will in step 3 after you have chosen a mirror next to your country.

Paste the result in a console, hit Enter and all will be done automatically. Go to MCC--> Software,

and just install what you want . All dependencies will be resolved for you.

Cheers

What do you mean exactly with "future installations" ?

On your computer, meaning that you'd like to keep these updates for the next Mandriva version ?

In this case, it is not worth it because the next version will have its own updates (hence the choice

in versions on the urpmi site).

If it is to install on other computers keeping the same settings, I suppose it can be done but I have

no clue on how to do it, sorry.

Why not searching a bit in the different folders /usr , /bin , /etc to find where the updates are located ?

Cheers

What i meant actually by the future installations was.....

Installing on other computers.

My internet connection is damn slow, so even 8MB is too much.

I tried finding it , but wasn't having any clue about what to find!

Now again a new problem.

When finding files, that Find files windows got stuck up and froze to -50 degrees Celcius!
