Mandrake disabled tapping in WinXp !

Hi,

I just installed Mandrake 10 on a Gericom notebook. I discovered that tapping didn't work with my touchpad not only in Mandrake, but also in my second operating system, Windows Xp. I found a solution on a forum which fixed the tapping problem in Mandrake. However, it still persists in Windows. How can it be that the Mandrake installation influenced Windows on my dual boot system ?

Thank's in advance for any advice and solution !

I installed a synaptics driver for xp and now it works again . I'm still puzzled though by what happened.

Mandrake disabled tapping in WinXp !

Hi,

I have the same problem !

I just installed Mandrake 10 on a HP zt3050ea notebook. I discovered that tapping didn't work with my touchpad not only in Mandrake, but also in my second operating system, Windows Xp.
I also wondering "How can it be that the Mandrake installation influenced Windows on my dual boot system ?"

How did you fix theproblem on Mandrake 10 and also in Windows XP ? I have tried in Windows XP to install the synaptics drivers but still doesn't work!!

I found the same occurence on my Inspiron 8100. I have a dual-boot with WinXp, and if reboot from Linux and go into Windoze, tapping does not work. HOWEVER, I later discovered that if I suspend Windoze, close the lid, then login again, tapping work. I think this phenomenon has something to do with boot record being modified by Mandrake (which still does not have good suspend/hybernate power management so needed for laptops!)...
