Angry Mandrake Control center disappears

I have had this problem a couple of time allready , AFTER running upgrades into my Mandrake system: The Control Center disappears and I can even run /usr/bin/drakconf anymore (its just not there!). Last time this happened after I upgraded now from 9.2 to 10 .
Before I could get it back by reinstalling rpm database, but even this does not help.

Try running "urpmi --auto-select" as root. I experienced something similar to this myself whilst upgrading 10.1 CE to Cooker and it was due to the fact that i hadn't installed newer perl and perl-gtk packages.

I had like the same problem when I was using Mandrake 9.1. It was solved when I made an update in XFree and some others stuff.

Thumbs up

Thanks. I resolved the problem by running a clean new install of 10.0.
I had /home in separate partition so I did not loose my files anyway.
Evererything works now , only do have re-install all software I have put into system myself (skype, amsn etc...). Not a huge problem anyway.

You should note that you didn't have to reinstall to fix your problem. Had you tried any of the solutions mentioned above?

I sure did: urpmi was not functioning since it could not find the package ftp site,
so i gave up and made a clean install.

I read somewhere else also that clean new install is allways better than update that could lead into similar problems?
