Mandrake and Windows

Does Mandrake automatically detects Windows XP and resizes the partition without any problems?

It'll certainly detect an existing Windows partition - Mandrakes installer can resize NTFS partitions to a degree - as ever, back up any data on your XP partition first just in case of probs, then defrag the Windows partition and switch off swap in it, then install Mandrake and resize your Win partition during the install.

I don't trust Mandrake NTFS resizing tool anymore. Windows reported the drive as corrupted after I did that one time. I didn't even install linux on there. I just resized it and then quit the install and windows wined about it. So, that was the 1st and last time to do that. Stick with Powerquest's Partition Magic for resizing windows.

I agree with above.
I did same with win2000 and had some shit.
Use Partition magic or Acronis partitioner.
