mandrake 9 and adsl

Hi im still fairly new to linux but am learning all the time which is probably the most enjoyable part of using linux (actually knowing how your system works!) ........but im having major difficultys trying to get my adsl connection working, i have googled till im blind but cant seem to figure out what im doing wrong. i have mandrake 9 and want to connect to Wanadooo adsl i have a speedtouch modem which i have installed the rpms to and put the mgnm.o file into, have set up and checked all the /etc/ppp files wich all seem fine. Both green lights on the modem are on they dont flash or anything like that, it just wont connect. when i test connection in drakconnect it says not connected and when i click the conect button it does nothing? im a bit confused to be honest. Am havig to use windoze to connect.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Does your DSL connection use PPPoe? Or does it utilize straight ethernet connections?

Try configuring your internet connection via the Mandrake control panel first and see if you can get anywhere.

Also as I asked, does your ISP utilize PPOE?

Simply invoking ifup pppx is not sufficient, nor is it enough information to help you out.

You may need to do a bit more research into how your ISP configuration usually operates.
