Ok...I got a fresh install of Mandrake 9.2 and When I installed KDE Games and XMME almost all of the other software that was installed by default was gone...as a matter of fact. The KDE games didnt even show up in my applications bar. I've had this happen to me before and i just reinstalled to fix the problem...is there an easier way to fix it???

Do you mean that the applications are not showing up in the menu, or that they actually disappeared (that seems unlikely)? Many people have had this problem in Mandrake 9.2 (myself included). Try typing the following in the terminal and see what happens:

menu update -v

If its the menus that have disappeared, try the following;

open your favourite terminal program and run the following

update-menus

for more information (and if you are interested) read the man pages for update-menus

MDK 9.2 has a known problem with locking menus correctly.Run Mandrake update and look for a package named popt (it's been a while since I installed it,but I think that's what you need).
Make sure that your menu is set up to your liking,before you install the package.

I would do that...but the Konsole seems to be missing as well...

I had the same problem as you (Konsole missing and more),and the only way I could fix the problem was a clean install,and immediately setting up KPPP and running Mandrake update and installing popt and 2 other packages (dependencies).
I realise you do not have a network card,but it is possible you could borrow a friends serial modem,do the install(MDK should recognise the modem ok),set up KPPP,and download the required updates.If you can not get a hold of these updates,you will allways have this problem.
Another way would be to purchase a MDK 9.2 update CD.

I had the same problem. I found a post somewhere out on the Internet that said to run 'menudrake' from a command line. The problem was that there were no terminals in the menus that were left since most of my menus disappeared.

I had previously installed the Kate editor. Kate has a terminal screen on the bottom pane so I found Kate in the remaining menus and ran 'menudrake' from the command line. I saved the menus and they were restored.

My missing menu problem occurred after installing XMMS. I got lucky that I had loaded Kate.

A course of action to prevent this in the future would be to load a backup GUI. I fortunately loaded icewm prior to experiencing this issue and was able to fix it. It does not consume very much space and can really save you when you are in a jam.

I also had this problem after installing XMMS. Luckily I was running it in a terminal when the problem happend, so I had access to a terminal to run 'menudrake'. After running menudrake everything worked perfectly again. In case this would happen again, I would suggest to make a terminal icon on your desktop, so you can open it and run menudrake if necessary.
