Mandrake 9.2 Install Problems

Hello,

I have been trying to Install Mandrake 9.2 since Friday January 30th and I am still unable. Below is a list of what has happened.

1) Downloaded ISO's and burned them to a CD
2) Started Install
3) Formated Harddrive
4) Got error about no hdlist found
5) I rebooted my computer and it would not boot from the CD's anymore
6) I tried a different ISO and CD
7) My PC would not boot from any CD
8) I looked in the BIOS and it is configured to Boot from CD first, however it says (Not Installed) next to it.
9) I downloaded a new BIOS and did a Flash BIOS update
10) Still couldn't boot from a CD
11) Tried doing an FTP Install over the web
12) Install froze when it got to the point that said "Looking for available packages to install"
13) I tried several different times and it always froze here.
14) I downloaded the files to a webserver on my network and did an HTTP install
15) I receive an error that says "Error: can't get file /Mandrake/Mandrake/base/mdkinst_stage2.bz2
16) I opened a webbrowser and went to [ip address]/Mandrake/Mandrake/base/mdkinst_stage2.bz2 and it opened the usual Safe file dialog box.

Everything I try to do does not work and now I cannot reinstall Fedora with the CD's that I have because my PC will not boot to a CD.

Can someone help figure out what I am doing wrong. I would be happy if I can get Mandrake 9.2 installed no matter how I have to do it (i.e. FTP, Network, CD's, etc). Also, I would really like to be able to boot from a CD again.

Thanks!

what type of CD-ROM do you have? did you read about the problem with LG CD-ROMs? i hope that isn't the trouble. Mandrake 9.2 seems to hose LG CD-ROM drives. maybe that is why it won't boot. i am also assuming that in your bios the HDD and the CD-ROM are properly recognized.

Have you tried a lokal FTP install?
I am currious if that also fails.

Sorry, that I replied so late, but it was the dreaded Mandrake / Logitech battle that distroyed my CD rom drive. I ended up booting to my CD-RW drive and it worked fine. Thanks for the help!
