mandrake 9.2 freeze on boot

I've been trying to install mandrake 9.2rc1 on my Hp ze4315us laptop. 9.1, 9.2b1, and 9.2b2 all loaded just fine on it. However when I try to load rc1 it installs fine and at boot says:

loading linux......................
Bios data check successful.
____

Then the screen turns blank and there is no more from the computer.

What can I do to fix this? Do I just have to wait for rc2?

At the very first screen, hit F1 and see what other installation options there are. Then try each one to see if it helps.

No there still seems to be a problem with PCMCIA so just run the installer again without formatting and it'll usually jet to the end of the install.. hit the services button and de-select PCMCIA and then finish. It should then boot up.

Ok, I did the upgrade option this time and it zipped to the end of the install and rebooted. Now I can get into the bootloader, but acpi and pcmcia still fail to load. This is really frustrating as I was hoping the 2.4.22 kernel would fix that. Am I just going to have to wait for 2.6 to be included with a distro before linux will just work on my laptop?

I would recompile my kernel and all but I don't know how, and after reading every hold-my-hand guide I still don't feel very comfortable doing it. Someone should write I a program to automatically do everything for you.

Pop over to Mandrake's site and file a bug report. It is only a Release Candidate.
