Mandrake 9.2 bootsplash

I've been trying to change the bootsplash in Mandrake 9.2 I edited all the files in /usr/share/bootsplash/themes/Mandrake/images and I still can't seem to get it to actually change. From what I've found out, the kernel reads these from initrd.img, the ramdisk image that's loaded at boot. I found in /usr/share/bootsplash/scripts several scripts, one of which is "make-boot-splash". I tried that, and I passed all the argument s to it that it was looking for (I looked at the shell script to figure that out.) Still, they stay stubernly the same. Any one have any ideas?

there is in 9.2? I've never seen it... Let me check....Nope, I just went through all the menus in the gui config, and I've not seen it. I know 9.1 does have one, but I'm using 9.2 RC2...which doesn't have one.... Maybw 9.2 Final will have it.

It's in the same place as in 9.1. It's that it will disappear than reappear has you do the updates. I've changed mine on one update than the next update it was gone again. I expect it to be in the final for sure.

No, they don't go back to orriginal.. Somehow I've gotta figure out how to replace the images that are sitting in initrd.img, or atleast that's what I think.

I hope that the final of 9.2 comes out soon, hopefully it will be more useful than this....

Edit /etc/sysconfig/bootsplash and change the theme setting so it points to your custom theme.
/usr/share/bootsplash/make-boot-splash /boot/initrd.img 1024

NOTE: /boot/initrd.img should point to the current initrd. 1024 that is the vgamode. Read the make-boot-splash script to find the correct setting or you can try auto, but that didn't work for me.
