I cannot get KMIX to boot up in the system tray so that I can control the volume. I read some things about a bug and I followed the steps, but it didn't work. Anybody have any answers?
Start kmix from the shell prompt and see what you get as regrads to output errors.
I had a problem with audio in mdk92 (and am still not completely happy with it) and found by setting the sound system settings to OSS driver instead of automatic helped a bit.
One other idea would be to run alsaconf that will set the setting correctly in your "/etc/modules" file.
