Else googling for something like "mandrake 9.2 SATA support" may find an answer.
Thing is that alot of the serial stuff is done by the hardware, and SATA is similar to normal ATA (e.g. you can get simple SATA to IDE adapters) so it's not a /huge/ issue for developers to write drivers for it - no more of an issue than any other mainstream mobo chipset driver, or so I've heard at least.
