Mandrake 9.1 installation and boot problem

Hi,
Ok so I am new to linux and wanted to install Mandrake 9.1 on a computer by itself. I went through all the steps and when I rebooted it to see if it had worked the only thing that came up was GRUB, and then it was stuck. Can anyone help me out on what I need to do to fix it or what I did wrong initially. Thanks.

it's impossible to understand what it is you did wrong, from a description so scarce.
only thing i think you should have done was installing lilo bootloader instead of grub.
so tell us what computer you have (cpu, memory, hardisk, video card,...) and what is it you done while installing mdk

Is there a selection in Grub for Mandrake or Linux? If so, scroll to it and hit enter and see what happens.

Post Yep

In the summary page you need to click on configure for the bootloader. Then you can select from the pull down menu.

I use lilo. Some, strongly I may add, recommend grub. I have used both at one time or another and had no problems. Lilo is easier to configure for me. Can't figure out the hard drive naming thingy in grub. I switched when trying to install Gentoo.

You may want to try booting from the CD and hitting F1 and type in 'rescue'. You may be able to get it right. If not just reinstall Mandrake again. It should pick up windoze. Maybe the first time was just a fluke.

Hope this helps a bit.
