Oh.......I get it now. Wondered why you were fooling with such an old version of Mandrake, I see on one of your other threads you are using a 300mhz box. Try "urpmi ssh" as root. (Don't have 8.2, but just looked in my 8.1 install disks and sshd is there, so I am sure it is on 8.2 as well.)
Just a suggestion, I think you would find, for your hardware, your best mileage would be with Vector linux 5.1 standard. I run that on my Dell Latitude cpi laptop. 266mhz and 128meg ram. It performs unbelievably fast. No kde to bog it down, so I use Icewm. It has a 2.6 kernel and an ssh terminal installed by default. Worth a look. http://www.vectorlinux.com/mod.php?m...nu=9&page_id=2
Suggestion #2. Damn Small Linux. This I also use on my laptop for a change of pace. The "dsl toram" bootcode loads the whole operating system into ram......doesn't get any faster than that. It also has ssh and sshd on the basic download iso. Is a live disk so you can try that out without even installing it. Can also use an included script to install other modules to it and make your own compilation with extra software. With this and my usb key for storing my settings, I can go to say my parents house, boot up DSL and in a minute I am staring at my own destop, my bookmarks in browser and all other settings like I never left the house. Nearly a must for old hardware and travelling. Just a couple thoughts. http://www.damnsmalllinux.org/applications.html
Glad you found something that runs well on your hardware. It really is slick. They just released a live cd version of the Vector Soho release, of course I am going to try that out (on new hardware, will see if it likes my 266mhz laptop aswell but doubt it). Seems many others are too, ibiblio's ftp is too full to get on, and the http is only giving me 28kbs.
