Mandrake 10 Update Problem!!!!
 

I am a total linux noob, but anyway.....

I have been using Mandrake 10 for the last few months with no problems. but I had hd problems so I put a new HD in and just reinstalled Mandrake.

Well Install went fine and everything seemed ok.

I went straight to the software management to download and install all the updates. As I started to download them it would give me the bad sig. errors and or it would go through the whole process and give me a message telling me that it wasn't successful.

Now, All the my fonts are like double spaced and it will not let me do any updates at all. I am stuck.

did you format the drive properly? what are the exact errors you were/are getting? have you tried rebooting & doing the updates again? if you get invalid signature/GPG key errors, just ignore them & agree to the install. it will still work. and, another trick with the updates............ sometimes if you try to get them all at once, something will bomb bringing all the rest down with it. try getting a few updates at a time instead of all at once & repeat as neccessary until you have them all.

in lieu of any of the above working, since it's a fresh install, you might consider just reformatting the drive & reinstalling.

I formated fine, and everything was working fine until I tried to do the updates.

Yeah I have noticed in the past if you do all the updates at once, it doesn't really work. I had just picked the first 2 or 3 securtiy updates. I also just ignore the invalid signature errors because I get them almost everytime.

Well I am running the updates again, and it seems to be working. I will keep you posted.

Ok, all updates except about 3 installed correctly and they are cups and 2 printer updates.

I can live with that, but this is what my screen looks like.

Well, I am an idiot.

For some reason one of the updates changed my font to SANS, which is double spaced. I changed it back to something a little more easier to read.

Wow, I am an idiot.
