Exclamation mandrake 10 install hangs at random

Hello

I have been using mandrake 9.2 on my pc. It installs without problems.

Now I have tried to install mandrake 10 official and after partitioning and formatting the install hangs sometimes during installation of disk 1 (between 1-50%). I have downloaded the iso twice, burned it twice, used two differet cd drives, tried to install on an emptry harddisk, tried to use auto partitioning and also tried manual where I create a root, swap, home partition.

The strange thing is that 9.2 still installs without problems. If I try to upgrade to 10 the system hangs during CD1 just as with the clean install

Any ideas?

Hardware:
ECS mobo with nforce2 ultra and c-media audio, GF4 AGP, 80GB ide disk, DVDdrive + DVDburner.

try looking in your BIOS for ACPI & LBA settings. if you have either set to on, turn off ACPI & set LBA to "auto" or "normal". those are 2 known issues that can hang an install that comes to mind.

Question

The disc is set to autodetect = CHS mode.

I can't find ACPI in the BIOS, but there are some PnP/PCI options either auto (ESCD) or manual (all IRQ can be set from 3-15), i try to set them but the installation still hangs.

By the way, when the install hangs the harddisk LED is always busy and the mouse and PC stop responing.

I had the exactly same problem. I found from some other posts the solution:

1) disable ACPI from the bios
2) when the cd boots, press F1 and write "linux noapic nolapic"

There! It didn't hang after that.
