Mandrake 10 Hosed My Particians
I installed mandrake 10. The install went perfectly. Then upon reboot I realized I was jacked. WHen Lilo started all I got was the "L" and I was hung up. I grabbed my XP Pro CD and went to restore my MBR - XP Pro hung up..... I could not even reinstall XP from CD. So I took and old Win 98 startup disk and tried to load it. Hung on boot also!!!
Finally, I took SUSE 9.0 Pro..... Had it wipe out all my particians then I could Use the XP disk to repartician and install XP. I then Reimaged all my particians using Ghost.
OK now, I didn't blame Mandrake 10...... until I tried reinstalling it again...... BOOM.... same problem..... Beware!!!! Mandrake 10 Has serious issues!!!

I have Mandrake 10 Community running on P4P800 Deluxe.
I have two physical disks, XP on MBR of hda, MDK10 on MBR of hdb, and I use bios to toggle between them at startup. I'm so ignorant of dual boot techniques that I physically detached the cables of hda when I did the Mandrake install. (It worked, but now I have to make a smoother boot process after the fact.)

Bro.... that's a rough way to enjoy linux.... dual boot. M10 may dualboot fine on your system.... I think my problems are probably unique to only a few system types with certian hardware..... I am interested to see if anyone eles has this same problem.

Just had same problem here. PII and HD6Go ( WD AC36400L).
0 - fdisk 2Go(win) and 4Go(linux)
1 - install w98SE
2 - install mandrake 10.0
3 - reboot : Lilo prompt
A - Win98 fails immediatly (blinking cursor)
B - mandrake boot OK.
Partitions seems all OK. I'm investigating
D.

Well it seems that the explanation is there :
https://qa.mandrakesoft.com/show_bug.cgi?id=7959#c14
"if you do not create new partitions during the installation, but just use an existing one, everything goes fine"
