Noob help.

Just installed Mandrake 10. Everything seems to be working fine with the exception of no modem and no sound. (modem is the priority here).


SYSTEM : Toshiba Satellite Notebook Model A65-S126


MODEM

Toshiba Software Modem on COM3

Under XP the driver info is as follows :

Agere -- PCI bus 0, device 20, function 6



SOUND CARD

Realtek AC97 -- PCI bus 0, device 20, function 5

In the mandrake hardware control panel, if you click on configure nothing happens.

Could someone PLEASE give me info on how to get these working. Any driver links and install instructions (remember I'm a Pre-K linux noob) would greatly be apprecated.

It looks like the driver is unsupported, and I haven't been able to find anything on http://linmodems.org or http://www.google.com/linux either. So if I were you I'd contact Toshiba and yell at them until they realize that as a paying customer you'd appreciate driver support, and in the mean time get an external hardware modem :-)

Also check alsamixer or aumix to make sure your volume isn't just turned down :-D.

Thanks. Mandrake install is about 200% out of the box than Debian (IMHOP). Just seems every linux distro has some type of problem.
