Mandrake 10 hangs on Checking 'hlt' instruction
Hi folks,
I'm installing Mandrake 10 on my old pentium 466 system. When first running the installation program the system hung on the line "Checking 'hlt' instruction". I managed to overcome this by starting up the installation process with the "linux nohlt" command. Unfortunately the problem didn't go away - when I boot up my Linux box it hangs on exactly the same spot. I can enter the system with the command "rescue no-hlt" but I don't know what to do once I am inside... Could some kind soul please tell me what the problem might be, and how to fix it. This is my first Linux box so I'm a bit unsure about what I'm doing (working as a 'normal' user under a Unix system isn't new to me, though).
Thanks in advance,
Zup
