Mandrake 10 Graphics Config Freeze w/GeFroce Ti4600
Hey guys,
I'm having some problems with installing the Mandrake 10 Official Edition on a WinXP dual-boot system. I already have WinXP installed (fresh) w/SP1a, and wanted to dual-boot Mandrake 10.
The install process runs fine until after the step when the packages are all installed, and I'm at the configuration screen. Everything is configured fine except for the Graphics system; it says in red font: "Graphics not configured." Then when, I hit the button to configure it, my entire system freezes; my USB mouse and USB kb both lock up. I do a hard reboot, and it turns out the installation is fine, except for X-Windows can't start up. I've also tried "upgrading" at this point and trying to do a re-install, but it freezes at that same point everytime. I've also tried dling and booting up a Knoppix CD, but a working X-server is never found. The GeFroce 4 is a prettty common card, so any ideas what could be wrong w/it? The graphics card works perfectly in Windows. I've tried the noacpi/nolacpi stuff, and my hard-drive is hooked up to my mobo's RAID setup, so I can't change any LBA settings or whatever; doubt that's the problem anyways since it's always the Graphics Config that's messed up.
My hardware:
Athlon XP 2200+
512 MB PC 2700 RAM
Leadtek GeForce 4 Ti4600
Leadtek TV 2000XP
ABIT AT-7 Motherboard w/BIOS version 8V
WD 120 GB Hard-drive 1200JB (HPT 374 RAID)
Lite-On 40x12x48x CD-RW (IDE Channel 0 Master)
Toshiba 16X DVD-ROM (IDE Channel 1 Master)
Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 USB
Generic 10 dollar keyboard USB
Thanks in advance!
