It's pretty useless to me without XFree 4.4 The 2.6 kernel and KDE 3.2 can be installed on 9.2 just fine. I just need drakxtools to be compatible with XF86Config-4's new format. Se la vie.

I'm not sure why it would be useless with Xfree 4.3 instead of 4.4. It seems there's not that much difference between the two (at least that's what I heard).
For newbies like me it's not so simple to install KDE 3.2, let alone a new kernel. So I'm looking forward to the community release!
XFree 4.4 fixes many video driver problems. In most cases, these drivers aren't available seperately. I posted a thread here a while back with a snipette from the readme.
unfortunately Mandrake (an a couple of other distros) aren't going to pack 4.4 unless the xfree86 olks change the licencing back to the way it was in 4.3. There is some contention about whether or not the new licence meshes with the GPL.
If all else fails and you really need to use 4.4, you can always download it by itself after the install of mandrake 10 and install it then. Of course that's in the more advanced class. :P
