mandrake 10

just downloaded mandrake 10 from
http://www.linuxiso.org
and just installed the newlly released mandrake .

well, first thing i tryed was installing the nvidia driver, no luck. kernal compiling needed.

this is my first looks since mandrake 8.2 ,and am really impressed with the strides to make the operating system simplier for the user. notice some really nice things-changing display resolution- easy. not like suse 8.2 where you have to go into yast and that bs. got to say that i am impressed , just wish mandrake would do like some other systems- install the nvidia driver during installation. mepis and libranet are 2 that i know do it. but overall, impressed.

You just need to install the kernel sources which are on the cd's. Go to kde menu/system/configuration/install software and type kernel on the search box. You should get a kernel-source-2.6.3-4mdk match, so go ahead and install it.
Next time you run the nvidia driver installation, it will compile the drivers so you're almost set. (remember changing nv -> nvidia on the XF86Config-4 file).
As a side note, the powerpack version of Mandrake 10 coming in May, includes the nvidia drivers (as well as a lot more of stuff) so you should get that one in case you want to have a lot of software right at your hand.
