But it would be great if is was just a little easier, but then of cource we are not happy when it is finally working.

Once I read about this, I tried dropping Mandrake 10 official on another machine I have with a Radeon 9000 + NF7-S board, and it worked like a charm. Add another surprised, satisfied 'draker.

hi. running an nfs-7 board with radeon 9200 card and got this (below) trying to build the core driver module. Can anyone tell me where to go next - apart from this I found the instructions excellent.

I guess you need to install the kernel source.

what do you mean by that? Should i install any rpms on the disk with the kernal source? and why do i need them??

They are need be course ATI compiles a module to the kernel.
(So yes the kernel source for your current kernel should be installed)

okay thanks. installed that and everything compilled ok.went through the install including adding the 3 modprobes (but not the motherboard or nforce ones (I run nfs-7 and radeon 9200) but on startx get "no screens found"

any ideas? do you want me to give the full error??

i almost went an bought an Nvidia card.....I've had no problems installing their drivers.
