ok,
today: ATI released their new video driver for linux and yes my card is "supported" (as in the previous driver). In the manual (the solved issues part) it said: "The System no longer fails to respond when moving the mouse around on the screen on some systems" This is where i was looking for..... WELL..... it still hangs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, thanx ATI (i'll try the memtest now if i find a floppy) michiel |

btw i don't think its still amemory problem after ati aknowledged that "the system can stop responding" after moving the mouse. i'll just wait for the next *good* driver michiel |
Its a problem with the driver, likely. I'd try to get an email response from them about your issue. I will be building another system soon, as this kta-133 based machine is getting a bit long in the tooth. I don't think ATI will be my vid card of choice. This rage 128 pro will be my last, if this keeps up.
But, I will x me pinkies for you! (and keep looking for a fix...) |
