Mandrake 10.1 with gcc but without g++
Hi,
I have recently downloaded Mandrake 10.1 community edition (CE), and i have proceeded to its installation.
I have carefully checked the whole "Development" package tree during the installation.
The problem is that I need the g++ compiler, and it says "command not found". Despite the fact that the packages gcc, gcc-ccp, and gcc-c++ are present
(I use : rpm -qa | grep gcc), there is no trace of any g++...
So, where is g++ ?
it seems to me that g++ and gcc are the same compiler, so I don't understand the presence of the second one without the first one...
Any suggestion ?
Thanks in advance.

On my system g++ and gcc are different binaries, however c++ and g++ are identical. As root, make a symbolic link in /usr/bin pointing at the missing file, or make your build system use the c++ file instead of g++ :-)

Mandrake 10.0 g++ installation
I am trying to install a wireless network card under Mandrake 10.0 and have been advised to install the g++ package. Followed the instructions in the earlier post, but got following message:
"warning: gcc-c++-3.4.1-3mdk.i586.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 26752624
error: Failed dependencies:
gcc=3.4.1-3mdk is needed by gcc-c++-3.4.1-3mdk
libstdc++6=3.4.1 is needed by gcc-c++-3.4.1-3mdk
libstdc++6-devel=3.4.1 is needed by gcc-c++-3.4.1-3mdk"
Can anyone advise what this means and what I need to do to get around this?
Thanks

Which wireless card? On which system?
There should be no need for you to recompile the kernel, which it seems you may be headed to, as Mandrake comes with all the modules pre-compiled.

Hi
The wireless PCI card is a model number XH8135 for 802.11b. I'm new to Linux and found installation of Mandrake 10.0 no problem, but have spent weeks trying to install this wireless card (which is supposed to be Linux compatible). I tried the download / installation of the gcc-3.3.2 but this also generated a range of errors. If you can give any pointers to what the problem might be, I'd be grateful
Cheers

Get another SUPPORTED card!
No really.
That card is unfortunately rather problematic.
There is SOME developement work being done on it...
see: http://www.linuxhardware.co.nz/popul...?hardwareId=49
You could attempt to download the source for the module then recompile JUST the kernel module for that card.
But this is not worth the headaches.
As posted the implementation is rather incomplete.
Also the manufacturer has not posted specs and only released a Binary driver for this card under certain versions of the RedHat Kernel.
Get yourself another card if possible, in the long run you'll save more money.
