I just did a clean install of Mandrake 10.1 on my HP 5375 laptop. Under 10.0, all of my usb mice and flash drives worked without a problem. Now, no USB devices work. If I plug in a USB optical mouse and turn on the computer, the led light on the mouse comes on and stays on (brightening when the mouse is moved) - normal functioning. After I select linux from the lilo boot menu and Mandrake starts booting, the light immediately goes off.

If I wait until Mandrake has loaded before plugging in a USB device, absolutely nothing happens. What should I look at or do to try and track down and resolve this problem?

Matter resolved: I've been looking at this problem for days. I formatted and reinstalled 10.1. Upon install, I used to have to issue "linux noauto nofirewire" in order for the installation not to hang. This time I jsut issued "linux nofirewire" and I did the installation without problem and all of my usb devices seem to work. I'm not sure if the problem could have been solved without a format and reinstall, but it did work.
