Mandrake 10.1 SATA A7N8X-E MOBO
OK. Trying to install the mandrake 10.1 community distro.
I have a ASUS mobo A7N8X-E Deluxe.
WD 160 gig SATA drive Set to primary master.
512 megs ddr 400 memory
There is nothing in the bios to turn off or on or set anything for the SATA controller.
The SATA drive works fine in Windows XP pro.
When installing the mandrake 10.1 distro it slow down when looking for the SATA drivers, it find the HD but takes about 15 minutes to say ERROR cannot find ????? (can't remember the exact error, this was several hours ago).
So it knows its a SATA drive but no drivers I guess, I downloaded drivers from ASUS, but their drivers are for 3 other distro's, not mandrake. RedHat 7.3/8.0/9.0 , SuSE 8.0/8.1 and UnitedLinux 1.0 driver.
So what can I do. I would like very much to get this working and even pay for mandrake and be a club member, but I like to try before I buy.
And if it doesn't work with my hardware what the point.
Any help would be appreciated, keep in mind, I am good in windows, no almost nothing in linux. Want to get away from windows.
So please help
Thanks you very much in advance
