Mandrake 10.1 Official Won't Load
Won't load up..
I get the background and a mouse pointer.. Nothing else will load. It happend to a friend of mine too. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dustin |
at restart it gives me an error after the install process.. This error is:
FBIOPAN_DISPLAY Invalid argument is that a problem? Dustin |
Yeah I think thats the error I get everytime I have to reload
as long as it reboots after the install just ignore it floppy |
it restarts after the install.. but I just get a mouse arrow, unless I do failsafe then I can login under init 3 and type in KDE and it works just fine. I read on a google this guy poster that the problem is unknown...I was hoping there was a way to fix it. I don't want to have to download a new mandrake distro. This one took me 15 hours..It even acts like it is going to load but don't..It is quite annoying I can get into the GUI by failsafe though that is what I don't understand and wha tis the command to get into gnome via command prompt.

Hmmm....
I think I can see a problem here you say it took 15 hours to download over that time, there's plenty of opportunity for files to get corrupted OK here is what I suggest 1. Buy a copy of Mandriva, even a download edition - here in Australia we can buy them for about 10 - 20 dollars OR 2. Find your nearest LUG ( linux user group ) and see if you can get someone to help. There is a LUG forum here at LQ OR 3. Get yourself a copy of Ubuntu. As I understand it - they will post a copy free to anywhere in the world. I've tried Ubuntu 5.04 and its pretty good. hope this helps floppy |
I could try to download the other version, the three disc one instead of the one dvd. That is what I did with the community version.

this may have been a bad idea but I got it to work right..
I installed the community then the offical over it and just used it to upgrade. Now it works fine even though the installer froze up when it detected my printer. |
