Mandrake 10.1 (official distro) freezes during boot
To all those experienced Linux users out there - HELP?
I have installed 10.1 on a second new hard drive, install went through very smoothly (4 CD's) On re-booting using the LILO screen, the boot starts OK but hangs when the machine gets to the prompt "checking for new hardware". I can only get out of this by pressing reset!!! My machine is dual booting with XP PRO on drive one (0) Linux is installed on the first partition of a new Seagate 200GB drive (drive two in two equal sized partitions) M/B is an ABIT AT7-MAX2, Hercules Radeon 9200SE AGP graphics, Athlon 2200+ XP, 1GB RAM, DVD and CD re-writers both LG, sound card Terratec DMX 6fire, Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse. The dual booting works perfectly into XP PRO and the LILO start panel comes up without a problem if Linux is selected. Regards to all, Michael |
