There is no need for CD/DVD icons there. You can use kwikdisk. It will be located that the system tray and from there you can mount/umount windows partitions, cds, dvds, etc.
I like to keep the floopy mounter in the desktop. For that you can create a link to the device mounter.
Right-click the desktop and choose create new .... link. Then you will need to specify a command line.
