Mandrake 10.1 Community disables USB

When i started installation, i immediately got a message saying "disabling usb devices". I wasn't worried because it's usually not a big deal with Linux fixing
things up later. But, now im a little worried because my usb mouse does not work.
I got a hangup during boot to the "searching for new hardware", and it will not
go anywhere from there. I'm now forced to use my old,OLD mouse, which is very
un-usb, and very discomfortable in anyway. So, anyone have any idea what might
cause my usb mouse not to work, please let me enjoy your knowledge also.

And yes, this is the first time i've had any issues with usb devices in Linux, and my
mouse has worked nice with Mandrake 9.2 and 10.0
