Mandrake 10.1 CD1 will not boot

Hello,

I downloaded Mandrake 10.1 from ftp://ftp.cs.ucr.edu/pub/mirrors/mandrakelinux/official/iso/10.1/i586/ and burnt the image (Mandrakelinux-10.1-Official-Download-CD1.i586.iso) to disc using Nero 6. I choose the "make bootable cd" option and selected "hard-drive emulation".

My problem is that I cannot boot from the disc I made. A message appeared that stated there was no operating system. Is there something special I need to do? The BIOS is set up right, as I can boot from other discs without problem. I noticed that when I view the contents of the drive from Windows it appears that there is only one file (the ISO image) on the cd.

Thanks for your assistance.

I think you should have used "Burn image to disk" from Nero ... It should work better

Making a CD "bootable" with Nero, is for Windows. Just burn the .iso to the disk as you would any ordinary data disk, and it should work. I've had a lot of trouble with Nero, when I toyed with the defaults.

Also, try not to use a CDRW, because a lot of older cdrom drives can't see them without software. Use a regular CDR.

yes you should burn it with the "Burn image to disk" option in nero

jaden404,
Yes burn it as an image as the other post mentioned..
As a side note I know it should work for you because I have essentially the same system as you do..it works perfectly..
good luck,
