Mandrake 10.0 XMMS Error

I installed Mandrake 10.0 (5 CDs) and i'm having trouble with XMMS 1.2.9. I installed it from rpmdrake and the CD, but when I load a song into the playlist and try to play it, the program stalls and doesn't do anything. Does anybody know what's happening?

never give up.

I can't believe I can actualy answer a qestion...

I had the same problem, what worked for me was starting XMMS, then before I did anything else hitting Ctrl+P

then change the output plugin to ALSA 1.2.9
see if that works, if it doesn't try changing the output pluggin to something else.

When I try that it says Please check that: Your sound card is configured correctly, you have the correct plugin selected, no other program is blocking the sound card, the only other driver i have is OSS 1.2.9.

There is another solution this from a similar thread:

.....As for xmms create a link and where it asks for command input "xmms" then apply that should do it.....

Create a link on desktop (right click->Create New->File->Link to Application) then do the above, this worked for me !

Oh, then change the icon to something suitable !!
