Unhappy Mandrake 10.0 Official Upgrade problem

This "Newbie" has just upgraded from Mandrake 10.0 Community Edition
to the latest 10.0 "OFFICIAL" distro release!!

The "Upgrade" went well with all my previous settings and desktop intact, and all hardware detected at bootup and functioning thereafter.

Now what is very strange is that upon bootup (verbose mode), the one and only "FAILED" indication is under "Checking for New Hardware"

After completion of bootup at the desktop when I check under "Configure your Computer" (as root) at the Mandrakelinux Control Center and the
Hardware tab and finally "Hardware", I find this *BROKEN* somehow with
*NO* display of *ANY* hardware devices!!

When I click on *Hardware* under the "Hardware" tab, it quickly jumps back to the *Hardware* List (the one that specifies Mouse, TV Card, Scanners, Screen Resolution, Printers etc.) with *NO* listing of actual installed devices, CPU, Soundcard ,Video Card, HDD`s etc. and their specifics.
Now this worked just fine under 10.0 Community Edition prior to the "upgrade" to 10.0 Official!!

I suppose I could just re-install again, this time NOT as an *upgrade* but as an *Install*, but then I would lose all my previous configuration and settings.

Everthing *was* OK with NO problems using Mandrake 10.0 Community Edition, which by the way was an upgrade from Mandrake 9.2.

Is there a simpler approach to resolving this peculiar problem without resorting to a wipe and *Install*?

have you tried getting all of the available updates/bug-security fixes? i think there was a fix for that problem among them. use MCC->software management->updates. choose a mirror, get all updates, then reboot.

Yes, I have tried downloading ALL available updates/bugfixes-security fixes.

I can NOT however, download *10* listed available packages ("due to unsatisfied rpmrpmlib(CompressedFileNames) <=

These include :
1. dhcp-common-3.0-1.rc14.0.1.100mdk
2. harddrake-
3. harddrake-ui-10-34.2.100mdk
4. libpostfix1-2.1.1-0.1.100mdk
5. libuser-0.51.7-9.1.100mdk
6. mailman-2.1.4-2.1.100mdk
7. mdkonline-1.1-2.2.100mdk
8. passwd-0.68-2.2.100mdk
9. postfix-2.1.1-0.1.100mdk
10. telnet-client-krb5-1.3-6.2.100mdk

I`m not quite sure how to handle this, but the bugfixes due seem to include fixes that possibly might address my specific problem?

Well... after reading some old posts here, I attempted to install Easy Urpmi.
After getting an error message(s) regarding CD-ROM3, I first typed in: urpmi . removemedia -a
This REINITIALIZED urpmfs setup, which then allowed me to continue to install easyurpmi, and its included new sources for updates.

This "reinitializing" allowed for me to *successfully update* the (10) bugfixes and security updates which apparently was the root of my original problem of NO Hardware listing / detection under Mandrake Control Center!
This problem itself resulted after upgrading from Mandrake 10.0 "Community Edition" to "Official".

Bottom line here is, after updating *ALL* the post install updates, my Mandrake 10.0 "Official" Upgrade install is a complete success with NO problems and everthing working as before the Upgrade!

I still dont understand what happened with CDROM#3..... Something about compressed file names?
