Mandrake 10.0 multiple network connection problem
Hi
I bought Mandrake 10.0 official 6 CD pack and installed it on my desktop PC (unbranded cheap clone) and used an external modem to dial up to my ISP. I could connect with no problem. I did not have to specify anything other than the phone number, user name and password. Then I installed Mandrake 10.0 on my HP compaq nx9010 notebook. I had to use expert noauto to bypass my firewire (stupid useless hardware) to install. Then I configured the built in wifi using the mandrake control center. No problem. Specified the fragmentation and RTS/CTS as 2432 and the system automatically detected the DHCP and works fine. Then came the problems. Tried to configure the built in softmodem. The packages that came with the pack were for kernel 2.4 and the actual installation had kernel 2.6. So I had to download the driver from Connexant and now works fine. I used kppp and dialed in. Got connected but could only use IP address and not the web site name. I think the system cannot find the DNS. I tried all options in the Mandrake control center. The help file I get is just skeleton. I should be able to change the connection using some GUI. But can't. Does anybody know how to configure multiple network connections and how to switch between them using any GUI? There is new network connection wizard in the control center. I used that to connect using wifi but it's useless with the modem. There is no GUI to connect and disconnect in that GUI. Does anybody know of any tutorial?
I am not a geek but would like to use Mandrake linux on my notebook for my day to day work. So if somebody could help me it would be great.
Thanks
Neranjana
