Mandrake 10.0 Insert Installation CD4???

Well that's a first!

I've downloaded Mandrake 10.0 Community from an official mirror from their site and when I try to install just about everything, Mandrake's installation asks me for the Installation CD4!!! I mean WTF? It has 3 installation CDs and 1 Live CD called MandrakeMove. I don't understand that. I need to install binutils and gcc to install NVidia's driver but can't do it cause it asks me for the freaking fourth CD (which is not the MandrakeMove CD, I tried that).

Also is it me, or they messed up the boot sequence for the installation? To boot and install Mandrake I have to instert CD2 which is the bootdisk, and then to start installation from CD1. Mandrake 9.2 didn't have those things...

OMG  :o

cd4 is part of the powerpack. hence we dont have it.

yes my cdrom set also boots from cd2, just a cock up on their part.

"I need to install binutils and gcc to install NVidia's driver but can't do it cause it asks me for the freaking fourth CD (which is not the MandrakeMove CD, I tried that)." ---- I have Mandrake 10.0 installed (discs 1-3) and the NVidia driver as well, didn't have a problem. GCC and binutils should be on disc1 (no way GCC would be on some supplemental cd). Did you include the kernel sources during install? The NVidia driver installation will fail without that.

The installer wanting disc4 is a bug, known and not a big deal. Same with having to insert disc2 first inorder to install.

Please remember that Mandrake 10.0 Community is pretty much a beta release. The official release will be in a couple of months and all these bugs will be ironed out. Send in bug reports!

Yes kernel-source is installed as well as all the other packages I mentioned (binutils, gcc, etc.)

With 9.2 if I had these packages Nvidia's driver would install, but not at 10.0. Maybe it's the thing that they're still in beta, who knows...

CD4 is available to download if you are a member of the mandrake club. I'm not sure if there are any plans to make this available more widely.
