Mandrake 10.0 final powerpack installs 22gb

Hi, I have given up trying to install SuSE on my desktop soi have switched to Mandrake 10.0 final. I received the powerpack and tried to install it yesterday. everythign was ok until i have to choose to install the packages.
i was testingit out on a 20gb HDD, but it tells me that it will take 22gb to install the OS. Waht;s up with that? Community version installs fine in about 7gb with everything, how come final version takes up that much space? is it because it is a powerpack and there for installs more drivers and base utilities? it will not even allow me to unselect certain items from a group of utilities.
anyone?

Thanks
Osiris

im not positive.. but i think powerpack is 7 CD's... the download edition is 3, so what you are saying sounds about right.

the powerpack is actually 6 CDs. i didn;t know it would take up that much space for the most basic installation. o well i guess i can install it onto a bigger HDD to give it a try.

thanks,

any other thoughts?

well, it sounds a bit strange indeed...

what kind of package selection you made when the installer asked you to?

I guess if you try to install a "real" basic system it takes no more than 2gb

Cheers

sorry above you said a full install was 22GB, I did not know you were talking about a basic install.

I have a basic install on my laptop, it installed in 1.6GB (this is CE). So I would not think a basic install from CE or the Official PP would be any different.

as far as the package selection, i selected office suite, multimedia, KDE, development. and just that took up 22 gigs. and it won;t even allow me to go into it to select what i want out of it. like for instantce, i want to just use openoffice instead of the whole "office suite" they give u, but it won;t allow me into that screen because i don;t have a big enough hdd.

weird
