Please excuse this if it sounds very newbish... I am attempting to dual-boot my computer, which currently has WinXP Pro on it. I have resized the WinXP NTFS partition, created a new ext3 partition, and so after reading tons of documentation decided it was time to try to install Mandrake 10.0 Community Edition.
I put the CD in, reboot. Graphics screen comes up. The first couple times, I just hit Enter, to Install. It ends up going through some list of initialization routines (it appears to be finding my hardware or something) and then Gives me a screen that says "Mandrake Linux 10.0 Community Edition" at the top, followed by a build time. At the bottom of the screen are three useless Alt+F# commands, which don't work for me. Here is where it hangs. It won't do anything after this point. Some of the times I have done it, a tiny blue window-type object appears on the screen
very briefly, but I can't read what it says.
I have tried someone's suggestion in another thread to run the installer without APIC support (using
Code:
linux noapic nolapic
), but that did essentially the same thing.
I'd really like to get this to work, but I have nowhere to figure out what might be going wrong.
