making ftp work through nat

I'm using shorewall firewall on my router pc, which is running mandrake 10. It seems that it needs to load the modules ip_conntrack_ftp and ip_nat_ftp to work. But when I type lsmod they aren't on that list.

If I try using insmod ip_conntrack_ftp.ko.gz I get the reply: insmod: error inserting 'ip_conntrack_ftp.ko.gz': -1 Invalid module format

Any idea how to get these modules to load automatically? It's frustrating not to be able to use ftp at all..

As for the module, you probably should ungzip it first!

However, a module might be needed only to increase security if you want to run a passive ftp server. In any other case, correct lines in /etc/shorewall/rules should be enought.

Could you give me some tips on which other ports I have to open for it to work?
I plan on running a ftp server on the gateway machine too.
