'm running a modified Mandrake 9.2. Modified in the sense that I have compiled kernel 2.6.5 and have added other applications. But the basic Madrake core is there. KDE is my desktop of choice--version 3.1.
I had heard some negative things about supermount--and besides, I forgot to patch it in to the new kernel --so I installed magicdev. Mandrake has gone to this for automouting cd's, dvd's and floppies.
I have googled and looked, but there is zero information on configuring and running
magicdev. The only thing I really know about it is that it needs
dynamic to install and run.

So I expected that when I inserted a CD, an icon would appear on my desktop and I would be able to access the files that way. Well, no icon appears and when I push the eject button on the drive, nothing happens. I have to
manually before I can get my cd back.
Everything works great, however, with an audio cd.
Here is my fstab entry
Code:
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 users,noauto,ro 00
There are some scripts in etc/gconf/schemas/magicdev that control what happens with the drive. I am not, however, practiced at all in modifying scripts. I'm asking
- * 1. Would someone point me to some documentation that I may have overlooked?
* 2. Would someone supply me with script entries that I could make to unmount the cd drive when I push the eject button?
* 3. Would someone direct me to a directory in which I can find a configuration file for magicdev?
* 4. Would someone explain why I'm not getting an icon when I insert a cd in a drive?
Thanks.
