Unhappy Madrake 10.1 Upgrade from 9.2

Sorry to bother everyone but I'm having no luck at all here tracking down an answer to a problem I encountered when upgrading my current Mandrake 9.2 system to 10.1 using the Mandrake ISO CDs..

The message I am getting comes up during the install bootloader phase of the upgrade and reads as follows:

bootloader failed in partition_table::dos=HASH(0x8c2f158)... i am attempting to install the boot on a floppy disk which is formatted for Linux.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and feedback everyone

Use a different floppy. Make sure your floppy drive is working. (I don't even use floppies anymore!) Reformat ther floppy.
And finally,
Don't use a floppy, but use a boot loader like grub or lilo.

Did you do a full install or just an upgrade?
In any case for a version jump like that AFAIK people would recommend
a full install (be sure your home is on a different partition to the OS)

Also you are better of with mandy 2005 or 2006 rather than 10.1

Any reason why you do not have the boot on the HD?

BTW, if you read the doc of grub you can make a bootable CD (el torito)
I've done this once out of curiosity, it works.
If I remember correctly you will produce a file about 2 Mb
that you then burn onto a cd.

Sorry no much more idea about the floppy problem
